The IMEI number, or IMEI code, is a unique 15-digit identification number associated with every phone (landline or mobile) in the United States and the U.K. The purpose of an IMEI number is to make it easier to identify a given phone line, even after the client has changed operators, for example. This means that a phone’s IMEI number cannot be changed.

Phone clients can access their IMEI numbers in a number of ways, depending on their devices.
Finding Your IMEI Number on iPhone
The easiest way to access your IMEI number on iPhone is by turning the device over and locating it on the back toward the bottom. The figure should be preceded by IMEI.
You can also go to Settings > General > About > IMEI. If you would like to copy the number, tap and hold on the line, then select Copy when it appears.
Finding Your IMEI Number on Android
To find your IMEI number on Android, go to Android > About Phone > Status.
There, you will find your phone’s IMEI number, which you will have to copy by hand as there is no way to copy it using your phone.
