The Windows 7 operating system allows users to create custom keyboard shortcuts to applications. Users may find this feature convenient because it allows them to access applications that are frequently used. Instead of looking for the shortcut or the link to the application, it can be accessed through a set of user-defined hot keys.

Create Custom Hot Keys in Windows 7

Right-click the desktop shortcut of the application, then click Properties > Shortcuts.
