Following the incredible success of Baldur’s Gate 3, Larian Studios has become a household name among gamers. They have been masters at creating top-tier CRPG games for years, first gaining prominence with Divinity: Original Sin 2. But only a few gamers know that Larian Studios didn’t start with CRPGs. Their major breakthrough in gaming came with the Divinity franchise, which began as an isometric hack and slash game, then evolved into a 3rd-person open-world RPG, and later into a CRPG with Original Sin.
Now, after more than a decade, the main Divinity franchise is set to return, with Larian releasing a new Divinity trailer at The Game Awards. While they have released several games in the Divinity franchise, this will be their first game simply titled Divinity. Intrigued? Here’s everything we know about it, including possible release windows and gameplay details.
Divinity Release Date and Platforms
Our guess is that the game will go into early access sometime in early 2027. For platforms, I expect Divinity to release on PC and all major consoles, with a likely exception of Nintendo Switch 2.

The plus-three-minute cinematic announcement trailer didn’t reveal a release window for the game, which is probably still years away from launching.
The wait could be shorter if the powers that be at Larian decide to move forward with another early access launch akin to BG3’s, but we’ve yet to learn what their plans are.
Divinity Gameplay

We don’t have the slightest clue about Divinity’s gameplay yet, though we know it’s “an RPG with greater breadth & depth than ever before” for the studio. Chances are the developers will stick to their tried-and-tested cRPG roots.
Considering BG3’s success, however, we wouldn’t be really surprised if they decided to shake things up in a big way. Will it be turn-based or real-time? Place your bets now, but we suspect it won’t just be an evolution of past projects, like the two Divinity: Original Sin games.
Divinity Price and Platforms

The announcement trailer didn’t even give us the platforms that Divinity is targeting. PC should be locked, of course, but we don’t know if Larian’s next will release on consoles at the same time as well.
We know many of you are hoping for that, but you’ll need to be a bit more patient. The same goes for a potential price tag. It’ll be a while before the game’s properly unveiled, we think.
Everything We Know About Divinity
Divinity is dubbed the most ambitious project of Larian Studios, with the developers promising to deliver their biggest adventure yet to their beloved fans. The new title will be an RPG with “greater breadth & depth than ever before.” Divinity will be a brand new game that doesn’t require experience with previous Larian titles, but shares the world with the Divinity: Original Sin series.
The Divinity TGA trailer showcases a dystopian world where some people are celebrating on one side, while others are being punished or burned alive. The showcase is a classic from Larian Studios, perfectly putting its mark on gamers and etching the name in our minds. The Game Awards Desert statue was also a tease for Divinity, which we had guessed correctly in our The Game Awards 2025 predictions.

So far, we know very little about Divinity’s gameplay, other than it being an RPG. With the Larian’s recent success being in the CRPG genre, it is hard to see them delve into anything else. However, there is a chance that Larian Studios may return to their third-person open-world action-adventure as they did with Divinity II. If it does, then be ready to get blown away completely, especially if they bring back the Dragon transformation that I dearly loved in the decade-old title.
Conclusion
Expect a massive scope surpassing Baldur’s Gate 3, featuring refined turn-based combat and choice-driven narratives, though full gameplay awaits future reveals. Platforms likely span PC and consoles, with early access eyed for 2027.
