Xiaomi has shared yet another video of its prototype foldable smartphone. the corporate has not revealed any specifics about the phone; but, the video will confirm that the corporate is serious regarding foldable phone ambitions and is continuous to work on the same.
first showcased in January this year, Xiaomi’s foldable phone prototype sports a double-folding design, in contrast to other foldable phones that are showcased yet.
it’s unclear whether Xiaomi is any closer to the official launch of the foldable smartphone.
Shared on the official Weibo account of Xiaomi (re-uploaded on YouTube), the video of the company’s foldable phone prototype does not reveal anything new and simply shows an individual using the phone in portrait mode in an unfolded state.
The person then changes the orientation and folds the phone from both sides before placing it on a box of noodles.
The software lag in changing screen orientation as well as turning the UI from tablet mode to phone mode is clearly visible and Xiaomi can need to fix that before bringing the phone to the market.
Apart from Xiaomi, many different smartphone makers, as well as Samsung, Huawei, and Motorola are also working on foldable smartphones.
In fact, Samsung and Huawei unveiled their respective first foldable phones at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona last month.
Samsung’s Galaxy Fold sports an in-folding style, whereas Huawei’s Mate X comes with associate out-folding design. Xiaomi looks to be going its own means with the double-folding style.
